The Whites feared that Black men were getting high on the drink and thus posed a great "rape" threat to White women.
Southern newspapers reported that “negro cocaine fiends” were raping white women and the police were powerless to stop them.
Coca-Cola then bowed to White fears removing the cocaine and adding more sugar and caffeine
