
As of Monday morning, the death toll from the collapsed three-story building in Ebute Metta, Lagos, had grown to five, according to officials with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
On Sunday night, at about 10.56 p.m., an old three-story structure at No. 24, Ibadan Street, Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute Meta, collapsed.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service announced this on Twitter late Sunday.

Rescue procedures have begun, according to the service, to save anyone trapped within the building.Mr
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Southwest NEMA Zonal Coordinator, told NAN in Lagos that the deceased included three males and two ladies.
The number of inmates rescued remained at 23.
Rescue activities are still underway at the scene of the disaster in search of four of the building's surviving occupants.
