Jordan Ibe, a former Liverpool winger came on to make his National League debut for Ebbsfleet United on Saturday, February 3, after a four-year battle with depression.
What happened to Jordan Ibe?
The 28-year-old came off the bench in the second half of their league clash with Oldham at the Kuflink Stadium.
He was incapable of encouraging his side to victory as the match ended in goalless, leaving his club side (Ebbsfleet) in 22nd position in the National League.
The former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe, looked hardly recognisable as he came off with bleached blonde hair instead of the black hair he was known with during his stint in Merseyside.
The United Kingdom-born spent four years at Anfield from 2012 to 2016 and was once tagged for an enormous future by Steven Gerrard, who claimed the former Bournemouth player was capable of replacing Raheem Sterling following his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2015.
However, just a year later, after he was seen as the next big thing at Liverpool, Ibe secured a move to Bournemouth in 2016, after loan spells at Birmingham City and Derby County.
Bournemouth acquired him for a sum of 16 million pounds, he recorded just three goals in almost 80 appearances for the Cherries before he returned to Derby County in 2020.
Ibe was banned from driving for 16 months in March 2020 after driving into a London coffee shop in Bromley on 30 July 2019, later in the year, he declared that he had begun rehabilitation to boost his mental health.
In December 2019, Ibe was charged with failing to stop after an accident and careless driving after his Bentley Bentayga ran into a coffee shop in Bromley on 30 July 2019.
The former Wycombe Wanderers revealed he was suffering from depression in 2021, while playing for the Rams, after admitting that he found himself "in a dark place".
He played just once for Derby before having a short term at Turkish side Adanaspor in 2022.
He is now back in England playing his football in England's fifth tier at Ebbsfleet United, as he looks to get his career back on track.
Jordon Femi Ibe has Nigeria bound
Ibe is eligible for Nigeria through his father. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed in February 2015 that they were monitoring Ibe and would attempt to get him to switch his international allegiance.
Meanwhile, in August 2015, Nigeria then head coach Sunday Oliseh made a personal plea to Ibe in an attempt to persuade him to switch allegiance, but a few weeks later, he confirmed that his international future lay with England.
