France becomes the first country in the world to make abortion a constitutional right for women.
Abortion has been legal in France since 1975 but President Macron had promised to entrench abortion rights into the constitution since 2023.
The French parliament has approved the bill to make abortion a legal right for women in the country. According to the BBC, 85% of the French supported the bill despite the refusal of right-wingers in the parliament.
Out of 925 members of the French parliament, 780 supported the bill and 145 members voted against it.
French President Emmanuel Macron said the new amendment is a "French pride", sending a message to other countries of the world to review women's rights.
