Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has transferred power to his deputy as he embarks on medical leave.

The governor has been battling leukemia for a while has been granted a medical leave by the Federal government to continue his medical treatment which will begin from Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Akeredolu's Chief Press Secretary Richard Olatunde.
While he is away, his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa will be in charge of the day to day administration of the state. To back this up, a letter will be submitted to the State National Assembly. This is to ensure that the governor dedicates adequate time to his ailing health and gets speedy recovery.
The statement read:
"In the absence of Governor Akeredolu, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will assume the responsibilities of the Governor in acting capacity.
Governor Akeredolu expresses his gratitude for the unwavering support and affection of the people of Ondo State. He assures them that his administration remains committed to the path of progress and prosperity for the people."
