Yesterday, the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) gave their final verdict on the alleged forgery of Mmesoma Ejikeme's result, withdrawing her result and banning her from partaking in the exam in the next three years.
In an interview with Channels Television yesterday, the father of Mmesoma Ejikeme, Romanus Ejikeme opens up on the circumstances surrounding his daughter's result stating that she is innocent.
Speaking to Channels Television, he said, "My daughter didn't commit any offense. She is innocent. Right from nursery school, she has been taking first position till now. She is very studious. She is not joking with her education. Sometimes she'll read till day break in order to make a good result."
He continued by saying his daughter Mmesoma cannot commit such a crime because she knows what she's doing and she is not illiterate.
When asked if he plans to seek redress in court, he said, "I'm not doing anything. We'll just hand everything over to God because God knows the truth and the government hasn't done anything since then. They shouldn't kill the talent of the innocent girl. They shouldn't do that.
He revealed his experience in 1996 when he was still a musician and how he participated in a singing competition in Oyo State and won. He said as a result of his win, he encountered serious challenges and threats from people and he had to lay low as a result of that. He went on to say Nigeria is a talent killer and his daughter is also facing the same challenge he faced when he was young.
