Nigerian rapper and songwriter Emeka Akumefule popularly known as Blaqbonez has stated that he has a sound that is totally different from every other artist in the Nigerian music industry.
On a media tour to promote his newly released album Emeka Must Shine, Blaqbonez told Zero Conditions that while he was creating the album, he made his own version of Afrobeats that is completely distinct from any other one an artist has ever created.
"I created a version of Afrobeats. I didn't just come here to sing like Afrobeat guys. Instead of doing that, I took Afrobeats, broke it down and created my version of it. You'll not hear this album and think I'm singing like Omah Lay, Rema or Wizkid. I broke it down and created the Blaqbonez version of Afrobeats.", Blaqbonez stated.
Blaqbonez said his music is different and his style is authentic because his music erupts a reaction out of the listener. He expressed that his song isn't that Afrobeats single that will be playing in the background and people will be folding arms.
He bragged, "My music causes a reaction out of you. It's not that Afrobeats that will just play in the back. If you hear it once properly, you'll be like, 'who did this thing?"
Blaqbonez said his single Ice Spice cannot be compared to any song out there. He said no one can say he sang like someone on the track, affirming that his song is one of the biggest songs this year. He recalled how his fans went hard for him when he went to East Africa this year saying, "When I went to East Africa, I was the hottest thing in the whole place."
Blaqbonez released his third studio album Emeka Must Shine on 27th October 2023. The album is a 14-track project featuring artists like Zlatan, Odumodublvck, Young Jonn, Black Sherif, Victony, Jeriq, Ludacris, Projexx and M24.
