On Tuesday, the leadership of the National Population Commission (NPC) met with the Nigerian Army.

To ensure a credible census, the NPC sought the support of the military arm. Nasiru Isa Kwarra, Chairman, led senior officials on a visit to Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Kwarra revealed that the commission was meeting with key stakeholders ahead of the 2023 census. He claims that the calculation will provide better demographic data needed to address security issues.

Kwarra, on the other hand, praised Army troops for their efforts to secure the country. According to Yahaya, a census is necessary for adequate planning and the country's socioeconomic development.

The chief assured that the Army will provide security for government agencies in order for them to carry out their duties.
