To commemorate Nigeria's fifth Identity Day in Abuja, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) through the assistance of the Federal Government unveiled the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Self-Service Enrolment System on Saturday to help Nigerians apply for NIN with the help of their smartphones.
This step is to make NIN registration seamlessly free and easy for the citizens instead of standing in long queues to get registered.
This self-service app is designed to make NIN registration accessible and was launched by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the acting Director General/CEO of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote to celebrate National Identity Day.
As the unveiling of the app was going on, the Director for Information Technology at NIMC also affirmed that the app would make the enrollment of NIN easier for Nigerians.
Also speaking of the unveiled app, Tunji-Ojo stated that the harmonization of all the country’s databases is an important step in reducing crime which will play a pivotal role in national development.
