Abdul Rasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), was suspended by President Tinubu pending the completion of investigations. Bawa resumed office in 2021 after former President Mohammadu Buhari, removed his predecessor, Ibrahim Magu, from office due to alleged corruption.
President Tinubu has made the same move on Bawa. This news was disclosed in a statement by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Bassey further stated that Bawa had handed over his official duties to the Director of Operations in EFCC, pending the conclusion of all investigations.
Right now, the suspended EFCC chairman has been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS).
