Protest rocks Edo State over fuel subsidy, protesters block roads

Protests have begun to occur in Edo State over the issue of the fuel subsidy which was removed.

Recall that just a few days after the president, Tinubu was inaugurated, he removed the fuel subsidy which had led to the hike in prices of fuel and also hoarding of fuel.

This has also led to an increase in cost of transportation recently.

A group known as the Edo Civil Society Organisations took to the streets to express themselves. They blocked a part of the Benin/Lagos highway on Thursday.

This was to protest over the challenges being faced regarding subsidy.

The protest was held in different locations in Edo State. This caused a roadblock as people weren't able to move their vehicles.

The group was calling for the reversal of the subsidy removal. They mentioned how people have begun to face hardships over this challenge.

They carried around sign cards during the protests, some of each read how they can't afford to buy petrol at the new prices.

The protesters have said that they would continue with the protests until the government answers them and finds a solution.

They said if they wait and watch it continue, a new policy can spring up tomorrow and be much worse than this.
