Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State, has indicated that he will not run for president in support of Chief Bola Tinubu or any other APC presidential candidate (APC).
According to several sources, Amosun did not get the APC senatorial form nor did he attend the screening exercise organized for APC senatorial contenders.
Over the weekend, there were rumors that Amosun had agreed to step down for Tinubu after being cleared for the Ogun Central senatorial election.
However, Amosun quickly debunked the rumor on social media, claiming that the "two news items" were "fake."
The Ogun Central Senator "procured only the forms for the presidential ticket of the APC and did not attend the screening procedure for Senatorial contenders because he is not one," according to a statement written by his media aide, Bola Adeyemi.
"Amosun is in the contest for the presidential ticket of the APC and has no plans to partner with any person in the campaign," Adeyemi said, encouraging Nigerians to disregard the "fake news."
