3 students in Kwara sentenced to prison for rape

3 students in Kwara State have been sentenced sentenced prison for rape. The 3 of them have been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment each for rape and 2 for conspiracy.

All of the suspects are University students in Kwara State.
It was Justice Adenike Akinpelu who pronounced the sentence on them.
This was at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin yesterday, Monday. These men were arraigned before the court for conspiring and gang raping a lady who is Yahaya's cousin. The name of the lady has been withheld.
They were found guilty of two counts of criminal conspiracy and rape. The incident happened in Adangba area in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
Yahaya had invited his two friends to join him in committing this crime.
The 3 of them were sentenced to five years imprisonment each for rape and also two years each for criminal conspiracy.
Alongside their sentences, a fine of N50,000 has been imposed on each of them.
The Justice revealed that the confessional statements of these suspects are clear and unambiguous which is contrary to their counsel's argument.

- Mustapha Ahmed who is also 23 years old
