4 arrested for beating man to death for stealing watermelon in Bauchi
A man was beaten to death in Bauchi State tor stealing watermelon. This man has been identified as Ibrahim Hashimu and he stole watermelon worth N2,000 in Bauchi.
Mr Ahmed Mohammed Wakil who is the police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state revealed this information.
He also mentioned that the police have arrested the suspects.
He mentioned that the victim visited the farm of one of the culprits and stole 7 peaces of watermelon who were wroth N2,000.
The owner of the farm caught him and he and some others beat him with sticks.
The victim sustained internal injuries and eventually died.
When the report was filed regarding the test of watermelon, the police were mobilized to the scene and took the victim to the hospital.
He was taken to the General Hospital in Warji and was later referred to the Cottage Hospital Gwaram Local Government Area in Jigawa State. It was here he was declared dead by the doctors.
The culprits have been identified as Mohammad Daluta, Ibrahim Mahmud, Bashir Mahmud, and Abdullahi Mahmud.
They tied the man's hands and beat him with sticks.
The commissioner of police wasn't pleased with their actions as they ought to have reported the case instead of taking matters into their own hands.
