The Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, has finally arrested Rochas Okorocha, a presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, or APC.
On Tuesday evening, the law enforcement agents arrested Okorocha at his residence in Abuja's Maitama district.
The anti-graft agency had previously raided the former Imo State governor's home in an attempt to arrest him.
During the invasion of Okorocha's home, gunshots were allegedly fired. The EFCC stated that Okorocha violated an administrative bail and refused to attend its invitations.
Okorocha is accused of diverting N2.9 billion in public property while governor of Imo State.
On January 24, 2022, the EFCC filed a 17-count charge against Okorocha in an Abuja Federal High Court.
