A gas cylinder, not a bomb, detonated in the Sabon Gari district of Kano on Tuesday, according to the Kano State Police Command.
The explosion happened near the elementary school on Aba Road, according to Samaila Shuaibu Diko, Commissioner of Police. He stated four people died and others were injured in the explosion that brought the building down.
Some victims, according to Diko, are still trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident caused chaos, as store owners rushed to close their doors and flee the neighborhood.
