Gunmen kidnapp PDP chieftain in Rivers State, kills 2.
Some Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a PDP chieftain in Rivers state.
This chieftain is a prominent figure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the kidnappers happened when his convoy was attacked in Rivers State around the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
The gunmen killed a driver and one of the civilians in one of the vehicles that was a convoy.
The name and identity of this chieftain is yet to be disclosed.
The of the police officers who were also in his convoy also sustained bullet injuries.
Reports mention dthat these gunmen were dressed in military uniform and they had blocked the road and opened fire at the vehicles especially the first one.
They kidnapped the chieftain while still shooting around and took everything inside his car.
They have rushed the police officers who sustained injuries to the hospital.
We elanrt it was more than 2 hours later before the police came to take away the vehicle and the deceased.
The public relations officer of the Police Command in Rivers state, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, was able to confirm the incident, but he dismissed the reports of the two police who died during the incident.
He mentioned that the police commissioner has deployed teams to rescue the kidnapped man.
