Manchester United have finally taken a decision on Anthony Martial's contract.

Anthony Martial's Manchester United future was on the balance following his less-than-optimal performances for the club.

The 26-year-old was among five Manchester United players whose contract was set to expire this season. Erik ten Hag confirmed the club have triggered contract extension clauses for Hannibal Mejbri, Victor Lindelof, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka with negotiations ongoing with Martial and Varane.

The two French footballers were set to leave Manchester United based on the state of things pertaining to their contract.

First, United have refused to trigger extension clauses in their contract. However, Erik ten Hag has opted to keep things under wraps by saying negotiations are ongoing for a possible renewal for the duo.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is now incharge of Man United sporting and footballing operations, is reportedly keen on keeping Raphael Varane but on fresh terms.

The shrewd petrochemical chief wants to peg down Raphael Varane's £340,000 weekly wage at the club.

While there is a lifeline for Varane, Martial is reportedly off ten Hag's plans as per, Transfer Live.

Transfer Live reveals Manchester United are not in negotiations with Anthony Martial for a new contract.

The report adds United are ready to part ways with Martial. If the French striker broker a deal with a new club this January, Manchester United will cash in on him. If no offer is forthcoming, he will be allowed to leave as a free agent in June 2024.

Anthony Martial's Manchester United exit will bring a storied chapter of his football career to an end. He joined Manchester United in 2015 for £30m as the most expensive U-20 player.

Martial has made 209 Premier League appearances for Manchester United, scoring 63 goals.

He has won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield, and Europa League with the club.
