The emergence of multiple presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections, according to constitutional lawyer Kayode Ajulo, is a favorable omen for the country.
According to Ajulo, only three of the several All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidates are constitutionally entitled to run in the election. In an interview with NAN on Tuesday in Abuja, he revealed this.
"Based on our preliminary review of the aspirants, only three APC presidential candidates are constitutionally competent," Ajulo added, failing to clarify further.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu are among the APC candidates.
Ajulo said he was not shocked by the large number of people who wanted to serve Nigeria, but that the number exceeded his expectations.
Anyone with a lot of money could afford it, and by the way, they're just hopefuls buying nomination forms. "Because they will have to be inspected first, it is not an automatic procedure that will lead to fielding such aspirants in primaries," Ajulo remarked.
Ajulo also stated that those who passed the screening will be able to trade horses before the primary election.
