Yahaya Bello is a businessman and the current Governor of Kogi State. He is 48 years old and regarded as the youngest Governor in the history of Nigeria. He has been in office since 2016. Although Yahaya Bello has three wives, the first lady amongst them is Rashida Bello. Rashida Bello is the first wife of the Kogi State Governor. She is an alumnus of the University of Abuja and has been active since her husband became Governor. She grew up in Jattu in Etsako West local government area of Edo State and attended Brightway Secondary School. There, she sat for and obtained the popular West African Examinations Council Certificate. She is also a philanthropist and an advocate for peace, women's empowerment, and children's welfare.

An election is currently ongoing in Kogi State and each political party has presented their preferred candidates. Yahaya Bello was spotted voting for the APC candidate, Mr. Usman Ododo, at one of the polling units. He also stated that he is certain that the APC candidate will emerge overall winner of the ongoing election.

Yahaya Bello became the Governor of Kogi State after the successful completion of the 2015 gubernatorial election. Initially, he wasn't the candidate that won the election. He became Governor after the sudden death of the APC candidate, Abubakar Audu, who had won the election. Unfortunately for Abubakar, he died before the result of the election was announced so the APC political party replaced him with Yahaya Bello.When it was time for a second term, Yahaya Bello won the election after surpassing the PDP candidate, Musa Wada by 200,000 votes.
